Today I decided to take a look back at some of the first newborn photos I had taken. As I scrolled through them, cringing with every photo going back up to four years ago, I asked myself, "why did any of these people ever come back?" I can't answer for any of them, however I am so grateful they did. I know I would get freaked out entering a lighting situation that I wasn't familiar with. I preferred natural light. If it wasn't available in the house, I was likely to take your baby to the great outdoors and find props such as tractors to lay your baby on. I might put your little tiny baby in a basket outside in the grass. Anything that made me feel somewhat confident your photo would turn out. I was fortunately able to fake my way through this journey until I tapped into every imaginable resource that had anything to do with newborn photography. I knew I had to. The results began to pay off. I grew confident, and gained a really great clientele.
The past four years have consisted of a lot of growth. I have attended workshops, watched countless videos via YouTube , or any teaching video I could get my hands on. It definitely built my confidence and honestly my skill greatly improved. With still do far to go to accomplish many goals I have set, I am so grateful that since I started this journey, many of the clients that were with me from the beginning are still with me! I thank you for coming back, although the question when looking back is always...WHY?? I love each and every little that I get a chance to photograph. This look back has helped to be more appreciative of all that I have accomplished , also I hope it will encourage anyone who is struggling with getting started. The journey no matter where you are is worth every painful, or as I see today a tad bit embarrassing step.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
